Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) has co-sponsored the No Budget, No Pay Act. The bill would prohibit lawmakers from being paid if Congress fails to pass the annual budget resolutions and appropriations bills by the start of the Fiscal Year (October 1st).
The legislation was originally introduced by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).
Sen. Budd said in a statement:
“Working families and small businesses in North Carolina have to balance their budgets on time every year, and it’s time that Congress does the same. If Congress fails to do something to curb their spending addiction, then lawmakers should forfeit their pay. Thank you to Senators Capito and Manchin for leading this common sense bill.”
